The MySteel 62% Australian fines gained 2.79% to rise back above US$90 per tonne to $92/t.

Gold has fallen further below $1,800 an ounce to $1,790/oz on the spot market, following yesterday's tumble after Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell's renomination to the role.

Elsewhere, the International Copper Study Group said global production rose 3.3% for the first eight months of this year.

It calculated a 52,000t surplus in August, compared with deficits in the previous three months.

Copper closed down 0.3% to $9,805/t on the London Metal Exchange.

Finally, Burin Gold (TSXV: BURG) is set to start trading on the TSX Venture Exchange today after closing a C$6.92 million IPO, priced at 60c per unit and 69c per flow-through share.

Burin, which has been active in Newfoundland since 2018 as a private company under its former name Bonavista Resources Corp, is focused on its Hickey's Pond gold prospect.
