The COVID-19 pandemic has knocked back expected gold production this year by about 5% to 103.7 million ounces compared with 106.4Moz in 2019, Christopher Galbraith, metals and mining analyst at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said at this week's SME THRIVE virtual conference, with half of that reduction in Latin American countries.
