As a result of the gold industry's prolonged cutbacks in exploration spending and easy discoveries a thing of the past, reserve replacement is failing to keep pace with depletion.

Despite the rebound in spending in 2017, the road to new discoveries is a long one. Global gold production is expected to decline well into the next decade.

IAMGOLD, however, beat the odds with an 86% increase in gold reserves in 2017 and a growing production profile.

IAMGOLD's outstanding exploration success has put the company on a different and very attractive trajectory.

This paper is dedicated to recent retiree Robert Page, PhD, Director, Exploration-New Opportunities, IAMGOLD
