Colombia's clouded outlook

The organiser of this week’s Colombia Gold Symposium in Medellin, a long-term resident of the city that is an administrative and services hub for the country’s expanding mining sector, says the more pervasive threat from criminal mining in Colombia and elsewhere in the region, and now the financial implosion at Red Eagle Mining, ensured a sombre mood among about 300 delegates at the San Fernando Plaza hotel.
