Amplats' 573% earnings increase in line with expectations

Anglo American Platinum has confirmed huge increases in its earnings numbers for the first half of 2021 compared to the corresponding period last year, based on an improved price for products sold and a continued recovery from COVID-19 stoppages that blighted the first half of 2020. Headline earnings of ZAR46.4 billion (US$3.13 billion) and headline earnings per share of ZAR176.47 were recorded for the period representing increases of 573% and 572%, respectively.
