Nevada still No.1

Nevada is gold country. The amount of gold historically produced in the US state and still produced is incredible and runs into the hundreds of millions of ounces. The section of the I-80 running between Reno in the west of the state to Elko in the east connects some of the richest gold districts in the world such as the Cortez Hills, Carlin and Getchell trends. Nevada produced 5.3 million ounces in 2015, some 10% of world production with over 220Moz mined to date and several deposits hosting in excess of 20Moz.
